I wonder what emotions express your feelings at Christmastime?
I see three in the nativity story - Bewilderment, Joy and Wonderment.
As you read the early chapters of Luke's gospel you see bewilderment, and even fear etched in the minds of Mary, Joseph and the shepherds.
As the story enfolds we find joy. Joy which Mary and Joseph must have felt at the birth of the Saviour, and then joy for the shepherds and the people who heard the good news.
Wonderment follows when the truths surrounding the birth are realised. The shepherds glorifying and praising God. Mary pondering these things in her heart.
Bewilderment is turned to joy and wonderment when we realise the baby of Christmas is really Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
